For more than a decade, I have served—and continue to serve—as the Technical Director and Music Director for the Pregnancy Center of the Coastal Bend’s annual fundraising banquet, helping shape both the production and musical direction of an event that has grown from a gathering of a few hundred people to nearly 3,500 guests each year.
As Technical Director, I work closely with Pregnancy Center leadership to oversee the event’s production from the ground up. I advise on an annual production budget of approximately $60,000, coordinate vendors, contract sound, lighting, and camera companies, and help design the technical systems, staging, and flow of the evening.
As Music Director, I assemble and direct the band, select and arrange music, coordinate musicians, and perform as part of the event. Over the years, the banquet has featured nationally recognized speakers including Kirk Cameron, Tim Tebow, Eric Metaxas, Dr. William Lile, and Abby Johnson, requiring an increasingly sophisticated level of coordination across music, video, lighting, audio, speakers, and stage transitions.
The goal is never production for production’s sake. Every musical and technical decision is made to help the Pregnancy Center tell its story with clarity, excellence, and compassion. I believe the best production often disappears into the background—it creates the conditions for the message, the people, and the mission to remain at the center.
It has been deeply rewarding to watch the banquet grow into one of the country’s largest pregnancy center fundraising events and to continue helping lead it year after year. Thousands of people gather to hear stories, respond with generosity, and support a ministry serving women, children, and families. It remains a privilege to bring together music, production, people, and technology in service of that mission.

The candles in this video represent real mothers who chose life over death. Each year that number continues to grow as a result of the loving spirit empowered work of this local ministry.
Reflection
Serving the Pregnancy Center has reinforced a conviction that has shaped much of my ministry: excellence is never the destination—it is an expression of love.
Whether planning a worship service or producing an event for thousands of people, every decision communicates something. Thoughtful preparation, technical excellence, and artistic creativity are not ends in themselves. They are acts of hospitality. They remove distractions, honor the people we serve, and create space for stories to be heard with clarity and compassion.
This ministry has also reminded me that some of the most meaningful opportunities God gives us happen outside the walls of our own churches. The Kingdom of God is advanced when local churches and faithful ministries work together, each contributing their gifts in service of a common mission. It has been a joy to partner with an organization that cares so deeply for women, children, and families, and to use my gifts in support of that work.
Looking back, I am grateful that this has never simply been another production to manage. It has been an opportunity to love my city, serve alongside faithful friends, and witness God's provision year after year. Those experiences have strengthened my conviction that our greatest influence often comes not from being in the spotlight, but from faithfully serving others behind the scenes.
